Turquoise is a rare and valuable bluish-green mineral that has been a prized gem for thousands of years. The word turquoise is derived from an old French word for “Turkish”, because the mineral was first brought to Europe from Turkey, from the mineral mines in Persia. The Southwest United States is also a significant source of this beautiful mineral as well. People have said that Turquoise is a bringer of good fortune. With its beautiful and exciting hues, I don’t see how it could be anything but good fortune!
Fashion and design have incorporated turquoise into textiles, furniture, accessories and finishes. It’s one of the hot colors out there on the market and it’s building up speed. Due to economic stresses, people are surrounding themselves with more vibrant and playful colors that evoke feelings of happiness and joy, and I would say that turquoise can play a big part in this role. Feel the good fortune and incorporate a little or a lot of turquoise into your decor!
