I love to use ornaments around my house during the holidays. It’s quick, easy, inexpensive and can be reused in different ways each year.  As in these examples, you can simply fill a vase with ornaments or arrange them in a bowl for some extra holiday sparkle.

Tip: If you don’t have left over ornaments, pick up a few packs of cheap ones from Target.  If your budget can afford it, purchase a few select ornaments that are more expensive or have some special sparkle.  By mixing them in you can achieve a classier look that doesn’t break your wallet.

I adore the idea of using ornaments in the table setting.  Incorporate your holiday color scheme with ribbon and ornaments or upcycle using unexpected household items as in the following charming example from

Lighting can make such a difference in any home. When doing any last minute holiday decorating don’t forget to use lighting to set the stage. Line your walkway with lanterns or other lights.  Inside, if you have dimmers turn your lights down a couple of notches and incorporate christmas lights and/or candles to create more light in the room.

This is an easy favorite: Grab a mason jar, vase, or clear bowl.  Fill it with water, greenery (such as mistletoe), and cranberries. Then place a floating candle on top, light it and voila!
